A Kiss From Heaven

The sun,
From somewhere far behind the clouds,
Has tunneled through
With shafts of light
And leans again
To kiss the earth
With loving touch
Of penetrating warmth.
So it is with God and me.

At Gloaming Time

In the balmy time of mid-summer
at the close of a sun-splashed day,
I take time to ponder my blessings
while the fireflies come out to play.

I can faintly hear the mourning dove
with its melancholy plaintive cry.
I watch the fleeting rays of light
as mare’s-tail clouds crisscross the sky.

Mist hovers low in the valleys,
the air is calm and still.
From its secretive den in the woodlands,
I hear the song of the whippoorwill.

At the gloaming time of twilight,
I give thanks for the life-giving sod.
While nature retreats for a restful night,
I pause to commune with God.

ALIVE AGAIN

Arise; brush the strings from your face,
Open the cocoons of your sight,
and soak in the brilliance of another day.
Breathe in the aroma of dew-kissed flowers
that lures bees to morning nectar
as rising mist meets the sun.
Tune each drum to hear joyous melodies
of song birds in flowering trees
and distant plowing in the fields.
Taste the sweetness of sourwood honey
from cutout combs of light array
on homemade bread that smells of home.
Walk in the woods where dogwood and redbuds
line edges of leaf strewn paths
and meditate with God.

Close To Jesus

Jesus speaks to us in peace,
And we can hear his voice.
His word is always with us.
Living for Him is our choice.

His arms will be all around you,
And you are never never alone.
Jesus is our very best friend.
He gives us peace and a song.

I love to live close to Jesus,
And be a blessing for Him.
We can be praying for others
Jesus will keep us free from sin.

Let us be a servant for Jesus,
And win lost sinners for Him.
Our work on earth is so special,
Knowing His love and we will win.
