In Praise of April

Oh, praise the coming of April,
there is music in your name.
The blustery days of March are gone;
"Spring is here," our hearts proclaim.

Oh, praise the time of April,
bearing Spring on gentle winds
that brush the earth with a sweet caress,
and kiss its soul to make amends.

And praise the warmth of April
that brings the life-giving rain;
to awaken earth from a winter's sleep,
and bring joy to our hearts again.

Give praise to the flowers of April
that splash color all around;
a time of hope--when hearts rejoice,
and a time when love is found.

Oh, praise the birds of April
that come winging on the breeze;
to sing the joys of the mating call--
and build their nests in budding trees.

April is a gift from God;
to Him, we give the praise.
And praise to thee--Oh April,
for the beauty of your days.

A New Sound

The music of the meadow
Touches me
Like a soft cloth.
I didn’t know that
Goldenrod and Queen Anne’s Lace
Could whisper,
Or Maples could sing!
These are precious surprises
For one who’s needing to hear
A new sound.

Green Of Springtime

Refreshing are the thoughts of Spring
When grass turns from Brown to Green
As the Daffodils show their Yellow bloom
This becomes Springs first lovely scene

Soon we will see Red Bud and Dogwood
Green leaves will be growing on the trees
Wild flowers will be seen on the hillsides
A sight to most all eyes will surely please

So comforting are the days of early Spring
It seems as if the whole world is coming alive
We can see Blooms are bursting out all over
I thank God warm weather soon will arrive

Gone will be the doldrums of a nasty Winter
Bland hills will soon show their Green mantle
Beautiful are the sight we see in the Spring
At the end of this blustery month comes April
